A Still Moment in Colorado's Autumn

With my Ebony SV45Te View Camera and a Nikkor 90mm lens, I ventured into a vibrant Colorado forest during the enchanting fall season. The photograph showcases a tapestry of ferns adorned in hues ranging from rich orange to golden yellow, set against the unmistakable backdrop of aspen trees with their iconic white trunks. Colorado's ferns transition their colors swiftly, and I stumbled upon this captivating scene with a unique blend of green, yellow, and orange. But capturing it was no easy task; my Ebony 4x5 camera required a 15-second exposure, demanding a windless span of nearly three hours. Out of ten film sheets, only two preserved the ferns in perfect stillness, capturing this serene moment in time. Photo © copyright by Rich Voninski.
