About the photographer Rich Voninski
Rich Voninski in the Philippines

I have been capturing light with cameras since age 10. I started shooting with a Minolta SRT101 and my father introduced me to our darkroom. Since then I have photographed 50 states and many countries around the world. I have always loved exploring new places, meeting new people, seeing different sites and experiencing our world. My photographic images allow you to share in that excitement. All of my photographs start on film with my 6x7cm or 4x5in cameras. Using film allows me to produce images of extremely fine detail even at enlargements up to 30x40. When traveling overseas or whenever I want to quickly capture an image I use my Mamiya 7 camera. This camera produces 6x7cm negatives with crispness and detail. But my preference is to shoot my 4x5 view camera. The view camera forces you to think very carefully about the image you are creating. Prints made from a large format camera have a different look and feel to them, tremendous details throughout the print including the shadows.

Shooting the film though is just the beginning. I hand develop all Black and White film in my darkroom since I have personally developed techniques, times and procedures for exacting results. Until recently I printed all of my images manually in my darkroom as Cibchrome/Ilfochrome or Silver Gelatin B/W prints. Advancements though in digital technologies now give me complete control over the creation of all of my images. These technologies provide me with the ability to produce images which exactly convey my artistic impressions.

At Voninski Imaging we output all of our images to an Epson 4000 or Chromira Laser LightJet printer. The Epson 4000 utilizes pigmented inks which when combined with specific papers produce stunning archival fine art prints.

Keep looking for the ultimate light!
